Luke 4-6

Filed under: New Testament — Thomas @ 17:10

What are the implications of Luke 4:5-7 for those who seek worldly power and riches?
What a difference between 4:22 and 4:28: “all spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips…All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this…” How does Jesus’ point about the healing of these Gentiles impact our understanding of God’s relationship to Israel and his relationship to these covenant obedient Jews? Keep in mind that 4:44 tells us that Jesus kept preaching in the synagogues rather than to Gentiles.
How often do we withdraw to “lonely places” to pray (5:16)?
Why is the parable of 5:36-39 located here?
Today there are more questions than answers but that’s the benefit of having three gospel accounts. By the time you reach the third your thoughts can concentrate on new items of interest.
