Joshua 16-18

Filed under: Old Testament — Thomas @ 21:07

Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh were both given a share of the land. Chapter 16 details Ephraim’s share, while 17 that of Manasseh. In chapter 18, the question of land for the other seven tribes is settled (pun intended). Three men were selected from each tribe to survey the land and divide it into seven parts. This ensured that the land was adequately surveyed and equally divided so that no complaints could be launched in the future. Joshua then cast lots in order to determine which tribe got which portion. Benjamin was selected first, and a description of their land follows. They received the portion which contained Jerusalem.
