How many pigs are there in Afghanistan?

Apparently even a mute brachydactyl could put up their hand and answer this question. Let’s just say that there are so few that his name is Khanzir and he isn’t likely to have any offspring.

Today the BBC reports that Zhanzir has been placed in quarantine because frightened zoo visitors are worried about catching the flu from him. Methinks that Zhanzir is glad of this because the only way he is going to catch the flu is from zoo visitors as there isn’t another pig in the country!

In related news Canadian Prime Minister, Steven Harper, on a surprise visit to that country today stated that the Canadian military is going to be focusing on development efforts. I presume this does not include introducing large scale hog farms.
