NHL general managers have taken too many hits to the head

I think this quote sums up why very well: “National Hockey League general managers met on Tuesday and opted not to institute an automatic penalty for a hit to the head.” The NHL Players Association wants this rule implemented because they are the ones being seriously injured. The GMs could obviously care less and are only thinking of fan dollars. I think it’s questionable how many fans really enjoy hockey just to see people injured. I have largely stopped watching hockey because it’s become a goon fest and skill players are unable to show us what made hockey great.

If those with power in the hockey world refuse to act perhaps it is time for society to tell them what is acceptable and assault charges need to be laid for the assaults that occur with ever increasing frequency. The GMs also need to be included in these charges unless they can demonstrate that they have implemented a harm reduction program for their hockey team. The NHL players have said that the status quo is unacceptable and we need to support them. Support your favourite player – tell the GMs that this attitude is unacceptable!
